the house. the house is done. happy dance! i’m still pinching myself that all our dreams are coming true. and this is just the beginning. completing this first major wave of construction has been a journey for us. eventhough we still plan to add on a new master bedroom, move the laundry upstairs, finish the basement, add on more garages, fence in the yard, add a deck, and a new shed, we feel so happy. no more boxes and no more dust (until spring when we start phase 2, anyway). we are looking forward to a winter full of cuddling, cooking delicious comfort food in our dream kitchen, and planning future projects. we owe a lot to my dad, jim…who spent many weekends helping us. he is responsible for our awesome cabinetry and all the trim and doors. being an only child, he’s used to working hard to make his little girl happy, but i hope he knows how much we love him, not just for his skill, but also for his patience. he’s usually not a fan of white trim, but i think we won him over! and all of our other friends and family that have helped us over the last 7 months. and ryan! for putting up with my indecisive, creative mind and all that time you spent in the attic installing our lighting. i can’t wait to start making memories with you in our new little nest. : ) and now for pics! if anyone would like to know where we purchased anything, message me! i’d be happy to share. : ) **note: the ‘after’ pics were taken at 99% complete… please disregard the bits of missing trim in places. haha and we’re still recovering from our housewarming party held last night! thanks, everyone, for replenishing our wine supply : )
Sheila Dokulil - Its beautiful. Andy couldn’t stop talking about all the artistic touches you put on your house. You’re hired here!
Shelby - Love it…thanks for the showing us the “real deal” when we were there!!! I see you have some new finds since we were there; they are perfect! And I like the new wall art, but then again, I liked the old sign too:)
Amanda - Stacy!
Your house is GORGEOUS! So jealous over here! We just bought a house too, but I am not sure we will ever do this much fantastic work on ours, my goodness! Congrats!
Becky S. - Amazing! You should put this in Flea Market Style! It’s a new magazine I found that has some great ideas for repurposing! You guys did an amazing job! I LOVE it!
Becky S. - Also, where do you find such awesome stuff? I love the root beer sign and all the other old “junk” you have!
stacy - hi becky!
the root beer sign came from an old rental house my cousin lived in in Holdrege! : ) it’s one of my favorite things in the living room : ) most everything else came from vintage shops in omaha.
Brooke M. - LOVE your little unique touches and the color palette is gorgeous. 🙂 Three questions (hey, you offered… ) Where did you guys go through to get your flooring? It’s the EXACT color, look, feel I’m hoping for when we get around to that this winter/spring…. Also, your dining room curtains- A. Mah. Zing. Was that just fabric that you made your own? Or did you purchase somewhere?
stacy - hi, Brook!
thanks for your kind words : )
to answer your questions…
1- flooring is Cocoa Birch and we got it at Lumber Liquidators in Omaha : ) around $5/sq foot
2- curtains near the wine rack came from Lowes of all places! living room (plaid) my aunt made those.
Jami - Wow! Stacy, I’ve always loved and admired your photography, such amazing style and creativity! And now I know that it comes from within …. I LOVE your house! Seriously …. I’m in love with every last detail. Question, did you replace the trim or paint it? Especially around the windows and some of the built in cabinetry?
stacy - hi, jami!
thanks for your kind words!! to answer your question… we replaced all the trim. the old trim and cabinetry we actually were able to sell to a friend of my father’s! we have not replaced our windows, yet, so the interior trim of the windows and the built in hutch have been painted in place.
–stacy 🙂
