X-ray stuff. blah.

Did you guys know that I have my Bachelor’s Degree in Radiologic Technology?

Well, I do. A proud graduated from the University of Nebraska (@ Kearney) in Health Sciene-Radiography Comprehensive / Mary Lanning School of Radiologic Technology. I got my first job straight out of school at New West Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Surgery in Kearney, where I worked doing plain films and MRI for 8 years. I truly loved that job and the people I worked with… sometimes I miss it. I learned so much about the nature of people at that job. How a person first began their journey with us… completely broken (literally… I’ve seen my fair share of bad fractures) and helpless. Crutches, wheelchair, needing complete assistance. Their attitudes would be optimistic at that point because the reality hadn’t fully set in at their first visit. Then at their next few appointments, I could gradually see them become a little depressed. They would be more withdrawn and negative. Crabby and sore. I made it my personal mission to provoke a smile from those grumpy old guys especially (old post-op men tended to be harder to crack, in my experience). But if I could get them to forget their woes for the 14.5 minutes they were on my exam table, it made my day.

But then we decided to move to Wahoo for Ryan’s job and I abandoned my career in Xray to pursue photography full time! yay! It’s worked out. But I still throw money at the situation and do continuing education credits to keep up my license just in case a perfect scenario would arise. So that’s where I find myself. My giant stack of magazines sitting there. Waiting. Always in the back of my mind. ‘Do our quizzes, Stacy…. they are sooooo much fun. Especially this one on Pretransfer Imaging Decisions in Rural Trauma Cases We promise not to put you to sleep.

When a new one comes in the mail every couple months, I throw it on ‘the pile.’ I HATE always having them on my to-do list. The best way I manage it is to set aside time, rally and do a bunch all at once. I need 24 credits every 2 years, and every quiz is 1-2 credits. Very doable and I’m thankful I neither have to work nor take classes to keep my certification. But *sigh.* I look at this pile with procrastination. One of the very very few things I let sit and collect dust.
