winner of the doggy-gift giveaway!

oh my goodness. thank you to everyone (well… all six of you!) who entered my little giveaway by sharing your adoption/rescue stories.  it was joyful to read each and every tale of how you found your furry loves… out of tragedy, chance, or pure abandonment. I believe in the power of education and the more people who are touched by inspiration stories, the more animals that can be helped.

and now a strange story…..just yesterday on the way to my hair salon, there was a long-haired red corgi mix in the middle of the busy street. (lucky for him, wahoo’s definition of ‘busy’ is 20 cars/hour. haha)  he looked confused and lost…and he had a hooded sweatshirt on and expired city tags from 2009. Yeah…. a grey hoodie. And in true small-town fashion, a man driving a skid-loader down the street (I’m not fibbing, either) pulled over and said he thought the dog lived in one of the apartments on the other side of the street. as the friendly skid-loader man drove away, I rang the bell. no answer. so i glanced in the yard and found a little make-shift ‘tent’ made out of a tarp and some bungee cords set up on a rolled out sleeping bag. beside it was a little dish of water.  i expected to find a shopping cart and some pork n’ beans simmering on an open fire, but before i knew it, the dog went into the little hut. I guess that’s his home? what… the landlord doesn’t allow animals so this is your solution?  no matter how irresponsible I personally think that situation is…no matter how strange… the dog at least seemed warm and provided for. he’s probably a geriatric dog making his daily rounds to pee on the busy hydrant across the street. please pray for this dog. i pray that i don’t find him limp in the street someday.

I’m sure everyone probably has a dozen stories of the lost dogs we’ve saved from busy streets over the years. my heart aches every time i see a little doggie wandering. : (   collars and ID tags are so very important.

enough weirdness and onto the happy! since every story was so inspiring… i had to draw from a hat.

PRIZE: a batch of homemade dog treats…made by yours truly!
