summer dreams make me feel fine

Many of you know how much we adore camping. We have had the luxury of being able to stay at some cabins in Southeast Nebraska the last (almost) 20 years. It was 160 acres owned in partnership with a couple of guys (one of them being my Dad), who recently dissolved said partnership and the land was divided. Guy 1 kept the land with the cabins, and Guy 2 (us) kept the (very much UNDEVELOPED) other chunk.

So lots of news from the Ideus home-front:

1. we have our OWN place to go camping whenever we darn well want

2. we can make it our own

3. it’s a new project to get excited about (which we SO are!)

4. we can make it our own (this is a big deal!!!)

5. Violet can have the same memories I did as a kid with girl scouts, Halloween parties, etc…

These pics are from the ‘old’ property.

the ‘new’ property is 80-ish (?) acres of part wooded- part pasture and we have plans to build a 3-bedroom cabin and create a pond. Our goal is to be using it by this time next Summer, even if it’s just a shell of a building. It will have a 1-car garage for storage, a bathroom and a huge covered patio for leisure time.

I’ll post our progress as it happens…. right now we’re working on putting up a fence, clearing trees, and building a driveway (a looooong driveway. The cabin will sit in the middle of the property, where there is no site of anything man-made. So dreamy!). And Ryan couldn’t be more adorable; he’s created his own Pinterest account and has been tweaking a floor plan for the past few weeks. It’s been a fun project so far and we’re excited for you all to follow along with our journey!
