our backyard progress

So here is the view from our living room of our nice sized (current dirt hole) backyard. When we moved in, there were a few more trees… although not very ‘good ones’ in Ryan’s opinion, some flowering shrubs, and a decent lawn.

THEN we started hacking into the house and it because the dirt hole that it is now, with the exception of our annual garden.

Our fence was finally completed in July (Arrow is obsessed with it! he spends a lot of his waking moments out there smelling and running randomly); it has 3 gates… 2 for normal entry and a double gate for future large jobs that require it. We love that our house has alley access… which I’ve used more than once for photo shoots. It’s a nice little alley. : )

We plan to add on to the house once more in a few years a Master bedroom, closet, bathroom, but until then, we decided to wait on building a deck. So for now, we chose to do a retaining wall with railroad ties and put in a pea graveled area for a table and chairs and our grill. That way in the future, the gravel can stay under the future deck for drainage.  And (fingers crossed) install sprinklers, new sod, and landscape all before Baby I’s birthday.

Thankful to have a nicer view, anyway.

here are some progress pics!

Ryan’s Dad was so sweet to come up to help with the railroad ties. It was so hot and the mosquitos were TERRIBLE.

family picture… can you spot Arrow?

Can’t wait to wash these windows next week. Mom’s coming to help ‘fall clean’

and here is our current view. If the rain holds off, we hope to see some more progress in the next couple weeks!
