model shoot with found & flora

You may have seen Found & Flora featured on here before… and chances are if you saw this post, you’ve visited in person because of your shear wonderment and beauty of Kathryn’s shop! But in case you live under a rock or you’re just visiting my blog for the first time today (welcome), Found & Flora is an adorable store filled to the brim with amazing original ‘found’ objects and the heavenly scent of fresh flowers and plants mixed in. Located in downtown Wahoo, owner Kathryn Nygren is as sweet as they come and I visit almost every week. In fact, you’ll get to meet her little family later this year after I photograph them! But more about where I’m going with this post + the images you see here.

Waaay back in the Springtime, we put our noggins together and came up with an idea for a collaborative shoot using Kathryn’s beautiful flower design and my photography skills. We were inspired by the colors coral, navy, gold, and cream… we both agreed that our shoot would take place in the country and we even obtained a donkey names Stinky Pete. But after about 4 reschedules due to the crazy lives we lead, we ended up with a shoot in July; an altered vintage wedding gown; a very cute couple for models (Tom is Kat’s brother and Lani is his best gal); and no donkey (I heard he sold out to model for some coffee company). But we are SO happy with the way it all came together. We didn’t fuss, nor did we over-plan. Our expectations were low so everything could happen organically (which is the best possible attitude to have). So here it is!

Also: remembering those who were involved with 911.
