from the archives…

The aunts and I are throwing a couple’s bridal shower for the eldest one of us…Andrea, who’s marrying Andy.  [the A team] are flying back in August and we are all abuzz planning and crafting. It’s to take place at an old Opera House and our theme is ‘vintage beachy cocktail.’ Our aunt Carolyn is a caterer part of the time so she’s handling the refreshments and, of course, I was placed on the Venue Beautification Committee. But in reality, the place my mom chose is pretty awesome— exposed brick, wood floors. The whole vintage vibe is already happening. We just really need to personalize it up a bit. The A team live in Corona Del Mar, California;  5 blocks from the beach and they’re getting married on the beach: hence the beach theme. Here’s some fun things associated with our plans

ANDREA: cover your eyes.

we plan to display quite a few photos, which I took a couple visits ago on the actual beach their wedding is on!  it was such a fun day. I thoroughly enjoyed re-living it while digging on my hard drive. : )

i plan to make some sort of hanging banner with old book pages. Ok…I felt a little guilty when I hastily tore the book apart but seriously it wasn’t a best seller and it was pretty damaged already. It was well worth the quarter I paid for it at a yard sale last summer!

have to include their cat, Willis, someplace…

this is an 11×14 standout i ordered from mpix. I usually like to have a higher quality piece of art and order everything through my professional lab, but since this is just for the shower, I decided to go economical and order through mpix. I’m pretty happy with the quality, although, it’s pretty lightweight and needs to be handled delicately.

i also printed out a bunch of 3×5’s to do something with. haven’t found my inspiration yet, though. That’s just how my creative brain works. I have to let things marinate for a while. haha

anybody else operate this way??

on a side note: isn’t our maiden crop of zinnias FANTASTIC this year?? I adore them and can’t have enough of them in the house! so colorful and cheerful. even in our windowless bathroom.

So hope you enjoyed a little sneak peak of what’s littering my desk at the moment. I love a big event, such as a family wedding, to bring everyone together.
