doing the garden, digging the weeds

all i could hum last night was one of my favorite Beatles songs: When I’m 64

we’ve been able to spend a lot of hours outdoors lately. i’m kind of obsessed with our new garden, too. we all are — and when i say ‘all’ i mean our neighbors, too. we’re making a co-op! they lack space, we have lots. i lack know-how. they know their veggies.  perfect.

we broke ground last night and the boys tag-teamed tilling up our patch. ashley and i made our list of produce. perhaps a bit ambitious… but i’m more apt to go ape sh** planting things because of the co-op factor. we plan to plant (either by seed or seedling): popcorn; ornamental corn; carrots; beets; yellow onion; garlic; green onions; string beans; sugar snaps; peas; edamame; eggplant, broccoli; jalapeños; green bell peppers; tomatoes; potatoes; cucumbers; pumpkins; and acorn squash. oh— and basil, parsley, oregano, and cilantro in pots.

should make for an interesting summer. any gardening tips for us??

our magnolia tree is in full bloom, theres random heirloom early spring flowers popping up, and look at our pussy willow! fuzzy wuzzy was a bear….
