date night: the Boiler room [omaha]

Happy FRIDAY!  Just finished a very fun session of one of my favorite clients…   things didn’t go 100% to plan, but I’m pretty sure we made Christmas magic today. SO much better than my original plan. : )  Can’t wait to share!

Now for these pics… my goodness. where do i begin?  Ryan would say give me a steak and food I can identify any day. but with a lot of encouragement and an invitation from our friends Andy and Sheila, he agreed to dine at The Boiler Room. Fantastic dining experience. The night was cold and drizzly, but the atmosphere inside was warm and authentic and luxe. It’s set up like a loft… dining upstairs and the kitchen and bar in “the pit” below. to avoid looking like a tourist from mars, i didn’t snap a photo of that, but all the more reason to check it out for yourself! all their food is purchased locally from organic farms and their philosophy is straight from farm to table, keeping food whole and at it’s peak nutrition. delicious and interesting. pictured is what Ryan ate…. rabbit 2 ways for his first plate and chicken with cabbage (safe choice for his palette  haha).

here’s what i left with in my belly:

sliced baguette and farm fresh butter from Iowa

amish duck with shallot vinaigrette, roasted red beets, fresh radish and mixed greens

rare lamb served with fresh pesto, turnip puree, and shitake mushrooms

hazelnut chocolate torte with expresso gelato   **quite possibly the best desert i’ve ever eaten!!

washed down with burgundy wine

Mmmmmmmmm.
