a little something

Are you a P.E.O.?

If you’re asking yourself ‘What’s P.E.O.?’ then the answer is nope.

But if you ARE a P.E.O. ….. Hi, sis!

To the non-P.E.O.’s, I cannot tell you what the letters P.E.O. stands for. Or about anything we secretly do behind our locked doors. I can’t tell you about our crazy initiations with live chickens and eating grasshoppers; or our virgin sacrifices. And even if you pinned me down and tickled me, I STILL wouldn’t tell you about all the FUN we have keeping things secret.

But what I CAN tell you is that it’s an international organization founded by women FOR women to support education. It’s everywhere. In Wahoo, in Kearney, and in Beatrice. I’ve been in 3 different chapters since my initiation in 2002 and it’s awesome if you move because you have an instant group of friends wherever you go. I’m also now the President of our Wahoo Chapter, Chapter I.

And yes… you can call me ‘Madam President’ from now on. ; )

It’s kind of our ‘year end’ and it’s tradition to get your fellow officers a little gift. Typically we get something with a daisy on it (it’s our flower) or a star. I wanted to do something a little unique since it’s my turn. Sooooooo….. I went to my friend Sheila’s hubby, Andy.  Insurance man by day- furniture rehabber by night. He is a very creative dude with talent oozing out his pores. See his work: www.re-hab.com (We’re currently working together on new photography and a concept for a retail space.)  He made this mirror:

…and these nifty little pin boxes for my officers…

he totally would’ve done this part, too, if I’d have asked him, but I enjoy it, myself; therefore I did. Stained, wood burned, etc… (thanks, Kat at Found & Flora for the use of your tool!)

I went with a primitive daisy.

all wrapped up and ready for giving.
