365 challenge= COMPLETE!

So doing a personal photo challenge in 2013 has proved to be just that: a challenge. There were times I’d forget… there were times I took a pic at 11:59pm. And remember part way through I had to change my own rules and go from strictly only using my SLR to dabbling with my iPhone, too (at the peak of my busy season, something just had to give!) But I think all-in-all that’s OK. What I’ve gained and learned from this experience outweigh the things that went wrong.

Here’s what I’ve learned:

1. my life is normal. some days are excitment-packed and it was difficult to choose just ONE event that took place to photograph. and other days I was really reaching for something to use because quite frankly, I never got out of my pajamas or left the house.

2.  I found myself not documenting events because, well, I just need one image to satisfy my personal photo a day challenge. So having said that, i look forward to more personal posts with several images from a single event.

3. It’s SO amazing to have an SLR sitting on the counter ready to go at a moment’s notice. Definitely  doing that from now on.

4. I go back and forth on whether or not i’ll make an album of my year. It went differently than we’d hoped, but I still think I’ll print. I’ll thank myself in 30 years. How fun will it be to look through our daily life?! Not the formal photoshoots we do for ourselves, but an actual cross-section of our day-to-day. That’s gold, people.

5. I challenge YOU guys to do one, too! It’s a regimen. It pushes you. It makes you think outside the box.

i’m really really really really glad it’s over, though. : )

Happy New Year!!!

and here’s a pic from yesterday… I’m super sick (103 temp) so it’s a cruddy cruddy way to spend new years, eh?
