The day was perfect at 75 degrees… it was sunny and our ceremony was at 7pm in the yard at the Nebraska PEO Home in Beatrice. We invited about 200 guests and we each had just our best friends stand up with us. Simple was the theme… the only thing we really splurged on was a live band.
It was before texting. Before Pinterest. The only thing to inspire a bride was a magazine. Would I change things if we were to get married again in this day and age?
Absolutely.
But the only thing I wouldn’t change is the man I married.
Now I’d like to chat just for a second about wedding photography. It was never my intention to make June 14th a shrine in our house and have a bazillion wedding or engagement photos everywhere. But photography was just as important to me then as it is now and as a matter of fact, we chose our wedding DATE around our photographer’s availability. I still can’t believe we did that—our photographer used to inspire me and I used to work for him. But we didn’t do any research or give any thought as to where or how we wanted to remember our wedding day. Like I said before… Pinterest didn’t exist and had we been educated on the vast array of the different styles of photography, we totally would have gone another direction perhaps. We spent just $300 on our wedding pics. And not a single one is displayed in our home today. I was disappointed and am now embarrassed being a photographer, myself. My aunt took the pics you see above from the crowd.
Seeing them now, I take even greater pride in my role as a wedding vendor. I’m so happy to be able to give my brides and grooms a beautiful collection of images that are cohesive, high quality, and true to their own love story.
Weddings are a big deal.
They only happen once.
And images are the only thing you have to remember it by.
just sayin. do your research.
So now we’re off to Kansas City for the weekend! We’ll for sure go visit Grinders (our FAVORITE place in the world for Phillies) and The Remedy and visit my oldest bestie for lunch.
